TEWKSBURY - John Charles Bennett, age 56, a colorful and well known member of the community, died peacefully on Friday morning, Dec. 16th.
John was born in June 1960, a son of the late Ruth E. (Hughes) and William E. Bennett Jr., and lived his entire life in Tewksbury. He was a member of T.M.H.S., Class of 1978. Until John lost his vision, he worked in Security Services for several firms including Allied and Alliance security companies.
For the last several years, John could be found in and around Tewksbury Center, usually dressed in Day-Glo colors, featuring colorful sweatpants with varying degrees of outlandish designs. His last and favorite home was on Carnation Drive. The highlight of John’s life was a daily walk to the Deli-King Restaurant, where he would enjoy a stack of blueberry pancakes and “Hold Court” for the afternoon.
He leaves six siblings, William E. Bennett III and his wife Lori (McGlauflin) of Methuen, Michael R. Bennett and his wife Linda (Reid) of FL, Ruth E. Ledoux of Whitefield, NH, Susan I. Brooks and JoAnne M. Grace both of TN, Robert J. Bennett and his wife Arthy (Srinivasa) of Tewksbury; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and two grandnieces; and was preceded in death by his infant brother Paul J. Bennett.
Visiting hours Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. A Prayer Service will follow Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
