Obituary

Kenneth E. White passed away Tuesday, December 13 with his family at his side. He was 70 years old. Ken loved trains, westerns, computers, the Anaheim Angels, and, most of all, his family. His parents, Elmo and Edna White, were devastated when he contracted polio at age 4. Ken used a wheelchair from that point on, but he never let anything stop him. Lengthy childhood hospitalizations interfered with his education, but he persevered, graduating high school at age 19. He went to Ozark Bible College to study the scriptures he loved so well, not knowing how he would navigate the campus with his wheelchair, but confident he would make friends quickly. There, he met his wife of 40 years, Sue. He built a career in the rocky world of engineering, working on projects from oil rigs to shuttle missions to the first mini-dish TV satellite. As he grew older his mobility became more limited, but he still enjoyed every second of his life. His 3-hour weekly FaceTime sessions with his sister, Cheryl McClannahan, were a highlight of his week, as were regular visits from his church friends. Ken loved to brag to them about his kids, Kevin White (Sarah) and Jennifer Davidson (Mark), and his grandkids Mae and Kelly Davidson. He will be dearly missed. Services will be held at 1pm Monday, December 19 at Discovery Church in Simi Valley. Kenneth was entrusted to the care of the family owned Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home and Cremation Service 757 E. Main Street, Ventura, CA, 93001.
