NEW BEDFORD - Lynwood L. Silva, a life long New Bedford resident, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Riverside, R.I. at the Orchard View Manor.
He was the husband of the late Hope (Hallett) Silva and the son of the late Carl and Marion Cornell Silva. Mr. Silva attended both Holy Family Grammar and High Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served overÂseas in Germany and was one of the first four interceptor radio operators to serve behind the Iron Curtain at Tempelhof Air Base in Berlin Germany.
Mr. Silva was a life member of VFW Post 1531 and the DAV Chapter 7 and retired from Acushnet Company Rubber Division.
Survivors include his daughter Ruth Mello, his son Jamie Silva, and granddaughters Nichole and Brittany, Amanda and Janna.
His memorial service will take place on Monday, December 19th at 11 A.M. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County Street, New Bedford, followed by burial in Acushnet Cemetery beside his wife.
