Dell M. Dorden, 80, of Lanham, Maryland, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland, after a short illness. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Dorden at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Earl Perry will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born Iva Dell McIntosh on November 30, 1936 in Richford, New York, Dell was the daughter of the late Charlotte Mable Curtis and Clyde Everett McIntosh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Wallace Dorden, who passed away in 2009; her sister, Shirley Morisako; her brothers, Louis and Everett McIntosh; and two grandchildren, Michael J. Dorden, Jr. and Daylan R. Dorden.
Dell grew up in Center Lisle, New York and graduated from Whitney Point High School in 1955. She then moved to Ithaca, New York and worked as a secretary. She then moved, with her sister, to Long Beach, California, where she met and married Marion Wallace Dorden on December 28, 1959. He was stationed there in the Navy. They then moved and lived in New York for seven years and she worked as a secretary at Cornell University. They then moved to Tifton in 1968. She and M.W. moved to Maryland in 2009 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved to travel and be with her grandchildren.
Dell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Barbara Boone Dorden; her daughter and son-in-law, Iva Dell and Andrew W. Kimmell; two grandchildren, Jessica N. Dorden and Iva Dell Kimmell; and a brother-in-law, Yuji Morisako.
