Obituary

Augusta, GA - Mrs. Susie S. Daniel , 99, the wife of the late Robert C. Daniel, on December 13, 2016 went to her heavenly home. Her soul is now in the presence of God. She is freed from the mind confusing and physical deterioration caused by Alzheimer’s over the past 10 years. Her faith in Christ, confidence in the promises of God’s Word, and the special physical and mental care many provided sustained her during this hardship.

Susie was born January 28, 1917, in Vidette, Ga. , the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert H. Shivers. She was a graduate of Vidette High School in Burke County and the Georgia Teacher College in Statesboro, Ga. She was married for over 71 years to Robert C. Daniel, a pastor who served numerous Baptist churches in the CSRA. Susie was a loving and a devoted wife and played a very important role in supporting Robert in his pastoral work. She was also a loving, caring, and wonderful mother to her two sons. She believed one of the most important motherly duties was to teach her boys the knowledge of God’s Word and that by faith in Jesus Christ there is forgiveness of sins and eternal life. She was an excellent homemaker, faithful Bible teacher of ladies and children, and a skillful gardener. In 1993, she was preceded in death by her eldest son, Robert (Bob) C. Daniel, Jr., an attorney in the Augusta
community, who died suddenly after an 11 day battle with leukemia.

Her family survivors include her son James (Jim) G. Daniel, Senior, his wife Kay; four grandchildren and their spouses: Susan Daniel Melchior (Jonathan), Andrew Carter Daniel (Lauren), Robert (Rob) Carswell Daniel (Niki), James Gilbert (Bert) Daniel, Jr. (Nikki); eight great grandchildren: Karis Melchior, Alissa Melchior, Sumner Daniel, Carswell Daniel, Cash Daniel, Noah Daniel, Isaiah Daniel and Tatom Daniel; and numerous other family members.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful nurses and staff at Kentwood Care Facility who provided loving care and had a genuine interest in Mother Daniel’s well-being. Also, we appreciate the sound medical advice and sincere concern of Dr. Suzanne Smith at the Augusta University Medical Center.

Funeral services will be December 16, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the Warren Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Bert Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the Warren Baptist Chapel. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the church of your choice.
