John C. Correia, 78, of Fairhaven died Tuesday December 6, 2016 at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Brenda J. (Ponte) Correia.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Agnes (Takach) Correia, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Fairhaven five years ago.
Mr. Correia was formerly employed as a foreman for the Dartmouth Water and Sewer Department until his retirement.
He was a talented musician who had played in various bands throughout this area. He enjoyed traveling and playing keyboard at area senior centers.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his children, Louis Lucio and his wife Linda, Michelle Uzzell and her husband Todd, Roxanne Lucio, and Michael Lucio; his brother, Andrew Correia and his wife Jacqueline; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late John C. Correia, Jr., and brother of the late Nancy Charette and Theresa Presner.
His Memorial Service will be held on Sunday December 18, 2016 at 1 PM at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 635 Purchase St., New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
