Obituary

John “Jack” Wrigley passed away peacefully in Taunton on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Jack was born in New Bedford, MA on January10, 1925 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Brindle) Wrigley. He attended New Bedford High School and was a graduate of Burdett College and also attended Northeastern University. He served his country honorably during WWII in the US Army Air Corps in the Philippines and Japan. Jack worked for Western Auto and later at Diamond Tool and the Horseshoe Co where he retired following 23 years as the regional sales manager. He was a past member of the Taunton Lodge of Elk’s #150 and the John F. Parker Golf Course. An avid golfer, he spent many hours on the links and with friends and his sons. He also enjoyed billiards and watching the Patriots. Jack is survived by the love of his life, Irene (Langevin) Wrigley, to whom he was married for over 69 years. They met at twelve years of age. They were a sight to behold on the dance floor and often received an ovation. He is survived by his eight children, Linda and husband Mark Lincoln of Taunton, Mark John Wrigley of Rhode Island, Janet Wrigley and her companion Bruce Reilly of Florida, Marcia and her husband Douglas Portman of Florida, Craig Wrigley and his wife Karen, Keith Wrigley and his fiancé Joyce Leonard, Leah and her husband Mark Dupras all of Taunton and Kristen and her husband Matthew Barnes of Berkley. He also leaves his grandchildren Thomas Lincoln, Christopher Lincoln, Megan Hilberg, Brian Wrigley, Brendan Wrigley, Drew Wrigley, Erica Richardson, Corinne Reynolds, Morgan and Ryan Barnes and eight great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Wrigley and his sister-in-law Ruth Langevin Medas. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 19th from 4-7 pm. at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude in Memphis, TN.
