Grady Smith
Augusta, GA – Mr. H. Grady Smith, Jr., 90, loving husband to the late Pearl R. Smith, went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 10, 2016.
Grady was a native of Claxton, GA but has lived in Augusta for over 75 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Saufley Field in Pensacola, FL. during WWII. He retired from Smith Brothers Mechanical Contractors.
Family members include his sons: Grady Smith, III (Cathy) and John P. Smith (Denise); daughter: Sandra Blanchard (Joe); grandchildren: Lewis Blanchard, Catherine McKnight, Ashley Kelley (John), Grady Blanchard (Jennifer), Tyler Smith, and Tanner Smith; great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Clay and Locke McKnight Jr., John Walter, Trudie and Grady Kelley, and Emerson Blanchard; brother: Patrick G. Smith (Betty); sister: Kathleen Wallace; and sister-in-law: Rudell Smith. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, H. Grady and Kathleen Smith, brother, James C. Smith, and brother-in-law, Shelby Lee Wallace.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 2:00 P.M (one hour prior to the service) and the funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lewis Blanchard, Grady Blanchard, Tyler Smith, John Kelley, Pat Smith, Jr., Seisel Wall, and honorary pallbearer- Jimmy Whyte.
