Obituary

SPENCER: Wilfred G. Sasseville, Jr. 84 died Saturday, Dec. 10 at his home, surrounded by family.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Phyllis G. (McGrath) Sasseville, his daughter Deanne M. Benicaso and her husband Bryan of Spencer and their two daughters Kimberly Moreau and Amanda Wiley and her husband Patrick. He also leaves two sons Mark and Jeffrey Sasseville of Spencer. He is predeceased by his daughter Lauren Sasseville in 1961 and brothers Leo and Robert "Benny" Sasseville.
Will was a machinist for Reed-Rico in Holden and previously at New England High Carbon before retiring in 1994.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Wilfred and Rachel (Aucoin) Sasseville . He graduated from Bridgeton Academy in Bridgeton, Me. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was an avid golfer and charter member of the Massasoit and Growlers Golf Leagues. He recorded a "hole in one" and shot his age while in his 70's. Throughout his life he an was outstanding athlete, excelling in many sports. He received a kidney transplant 10 years ago. He was a member of the American Legion in Spencer. Along with his wife, they wintered in Margate, Fla. for many years.
Will's funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m.in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to V.N.A. Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, Ma. 01608.
