OLD ORCHARD BEACH- Leon Franklin Bean Jr., 69, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on December 10th, while with his family and loved ones by his side.
Leon was born in Westbrook on January 8th,1947. He attended Portland schools and continued on to serve in the United States Army. Leon later married the only love of his life Sylvia (Tracy) Merry, they were married 16 years and had 4 children.
Leon worked as a truck driver for more than 25 years. He enjoyed watching old western movies he especially loved reading his Louis L'Amour books for many years. Also enjoyed playing card games and dice games with friends and family. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he enjoyed fixing vehicles. Before his health declined, he loved being useful by helping people in any way he could.
Leon is survived by the love of is life Sylvia (Tracy) Merry and her husband and great friend Greg Merry and his four children. Leon Bean III of Old Orchard Beach. Ronald Bean of Old Orchard Beach. Shaun Bean of Old Orchard Beach, a daughter Deanna Vachon and her husband Brian Vachon Sr. of Saco. 7 grandchildren Devon Bean, Darrion Bean, Shaylee Bean, Dillion Bean, Madison Bean, Tamika Vachon, Brian Vachon Jr., Tanisha Vachon, as well as 2 great grandchildren Emma & Demi. His brother William Bean Sr. Of Old Orchard Beach, a sister Jeanette Walker of Westbrook and his beloved Aunt Claire, His dear brother-in law of 44 years Roy Skillings. His niece Tina Skillings Albano and nephew Michael Skillings both of Buxton.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents Leon Bean Sr. and Anna (field) Bridges, his beloved sister Donna Skillings who passed 24 hours before her brother.
