Gertrude J. "Gert" (Prendable) Nichols, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 82 years old.
Gert was born in Boston on August 15, 1934, a daughter of the late Margaret Gallagher. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system. Gert worked at the Charlestown Boys & Girls Club for many years where she dedicated herself to the youth of Charlestown. She loved crocheting and enjoyed decorating and arts and crafts.
Gert is the devoted mother of Bill Noonan and his wife Olga and Maryrose Mix and her husband Nick Petrillo. She is the loving Nana to Desirae Mix and her husband Justin and Ryan Mix and his wife Kory. She is the beloved sister of the late Margie Kivlin, Charlie Prendable, Freddie Prendable, Archie Prendable and Eddie Prendable. She is the dear sister-in-law of Doris Prendable. She is the loving aunt of Patsy and Rich LaPointe and many other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gert's visiting hours on Thursday morning, December 15, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. followed by her Funeral Service at 11 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will take place at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
