Michael C. Johnston, age 48, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, formerly of Norwood and Norton, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Wellstar Douglas Hospital in Douglasville, Georgia. He was the beloved husband of Lisa (Roche) Johnston, to whom he was wed on June 10, 2006.
Born in Attleboro, MA on September 11, 1968, he was a loving son of Patricia M. (Feeney) Johnston of Norton and Paul W. Johnston, Sr. and his wife Suzanne of Foxborough.
Mike grew up in Norton. He attended Coyle and Cassidy High School in Taunton and was a 1986 graduate of Norton High School.
A resident of Georgia for the past seven years, he was a self-employed landscaper and proud owner of Walls & Walkways Landscaping Company. He had previously resided in Norwood and Norton and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton.
Mike’s favorite times were those spent in the presence of his adoring family, especially with his daughter Rebecca. He enjoyed staying in top physical condition and will always be remembered for his strong work ethics and for always helping others in need.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his cherished daughter Rebecca A. Johnston. He was the dear brother of Mary A. Trainor and her husband Christopher of Boxboro, Paul W. Johnston, Jr. and his wife Christine of Foxborough and Brian T. Johnston of Norton. He was the loving son-in-law of Richard and Phyllis Roche of Norwood. He was the brother-in-law of Lori Murphy and her husband Terrance, Scott Roche and his wife Elizabeth and the former brother-in-law of Michael Beattie. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, December 19th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 18th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Michael’s family would prefer that donations in his memory be made to the Rebecca A. Johnston Education Fund, care of TD Bank, 54 Central St., Foxborough, MA 02035.
