Mary Hazel Reaves, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Dorminy Medical Center, in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, December 12, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, 12:30 to 2:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reaves was born March 3, 1928, in Abbeville, Georgia, to the late Charles Morris Dowdy & Martha Angelena Dowdy. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker, who loved to cook, with her specialties being biscuits and pound cakes. She was also a school crossing guard. Mrs. Reaves was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Barbara Faye R. Kirkland of Canton, Glenda Sue R. Rodgers of Fitzgerald, Roy Monroe Reaves of Fitzgerald and George Richard Reaves of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Daniel Kirkland, David Kirkland & Stacey, Allie Rodgers and Wesley Rodgers; great-grandchildren: Katie, Payne, Ryan and Eathin; brothers: Roy Dowdy & Carol of Orange Park, Florida and Bob Dowdy & Linda of Columbus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Clark Reaves; one brother, Jim Dowdy; a sister, Ann Lester and a son-in-law, Jerry Kirkland.
