Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Theresa I. (Fournier) Bouthillette, 90, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, December 2, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at East Longmeadow surrounded by all the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Fall River, MA on October 31, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Hermenigilde and Marie A. (Petit) Fournier. She was raised in Manville, RI and Woonsocket, RI, graduated from Saint Xavier High School in Providence, RI. She moved to Springfield in 1955 and moved to Hungry Hill in 1961 where she resided the remainder of her life. She was employed as an insurance clerk and customer service representative at the Desnoyers Insurance Company in Springfield and later at the Phillips Insurance Company in Chicopee, retiring in 1995. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. During her younger years, she was a Girl Scout Leader and also enjoyed square dancing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Raymond E. Bouthillette who was Called Home on February 7, 1991. They were married on April 25, 1947 and were blessed with over 43 years of happiness together. She leaves her four loving children, Richard A. Bouthillette and his wife, Nancy, of Springfield, Ruth A. Cleavall and her husband, David, of Agawam, Aaron Michaels of Springfield and JoAnn Smith and her husband, Matthew, of Springfield; her dear son-in-law, Gerry Sullivan and his wife, Dale, of Whitingham, VT; her dear daughter-in-law, Melody Bouthillette of Chicopee; her 11 cherished grandchildren; her 14 cherished great-grandchildren; her two dear sisters-in-law, Aline Gagnon of Woonsocket, RI and Murielle Bouthillette of Lincoln, RI; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Fournier and Petit families. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her loving son, William D. Bouthillette who was Called Home on June 27, 2016; her loving daughter, Elaine M. Sullivan who was Called Home on October 20, 2011; her two dear brothers, Lionel Fournier and Reverend Monsignor Norbert Fournier; and her two dear sisters, Jeannette Martel and Olivette Palazini. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, December 12, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (the funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
