Obituary

Priscilla C. Byron, formerly of Rochester, MA, passed away at the age of 85 on October 24th in Sheridan, Wyoming where she had been living for the past 6½ years.

Born in New Bedford on December 13, 1930, Mrs. Byron was the daughter of Manuel and Aurore Rose.  She was raised in New Bedford, where she graduated from St. Anthony High School. She worked as a legal secretary in New Bedford, where she met her husband, the late, retired Superior Court Judge, the Honorable Chris Byron. They were happily married for almost 40 years.

Mrs. Byron was devoted to her family, which included 6 daughters, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was quick witted, a lover of animals and small children, a gourmet chef and enjoyed, travelling, sailing, entertaining and crossword puzzles. She was a life-long native of Massachusetts until her husband Chris’s death in 2010. She then moved to Wyoming, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Dimitra and family.

She is survived by her daughters Diane Grajales of Middleborough, Carol Lima of New Bedford, April Mello of North Dakota, Susan Mello of Boothbay, Maine Christina Byron of San Francisco and Dimitra Dugal of Sheridan, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, her siblings, Donald Rose, Dorothy Ferreira and Marie Silvia and grandson Walter Grajales.

Her visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 28th from 4-6 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Her Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 29th at 10:30 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
