John E. Kelley, 81, of Hanson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
Born April 10, 1935 in Hanson, John was well known in the Abington community as a former School Committee member and business owner. In his spare time, he was a passionate woodworker, who enjoyed reading and watching New England Sports, especially the Boston Celtics.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Janet (Lentini) Kelley; along with five children; Jack Kelley, Sheila DaSilva, Sharon Beaton, Susan Gavin, and Michael Kelley; and one brother, William Kelley. John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; George, Thomas, and Jim Kelley; as well as his sister Annie Cote. John was the beloved grandfather to Christopher and Molly Beaton, Frank and Sarah Gavin, Jack DaSilva, and Lillian and Emma Kelley.
His funeral services will be held on December 12th at 9:45AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30AM in the St. Bridget Church, 455 Plymouth Street, Abington at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 12. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, December 11 from 2:00 to 6:00PM.
