WORCESTER-Helen (Kentros) Economou, 87, of 28 Blossom Street, died Wednesday, August 17th in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband Konstantinos Economou died in 1978. She leaves 2 sons; George C. and his wife, Elpida Economou and James C. and his wife, Alexandra Economou all of Worcester, 2 daughters; Florence wife of Emmanuel Barris and Goldie wife of George Goros all of Worcester, a sister-in-law; Eftexia Kentros of Athens, Greece, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
She was born in Douvania, N. Epiros, Greece the daughter of Leonidas and Sophia (Lekas) Kentros, and came to this country in 1937. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, it’s Senior Citizen group, and was very active with the Ladies Philoptochos and the Epirotic Societies, and was a member of the Douvanitico Society.
The funeral is Friday, August 19th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, August 18th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
