Mary Jane Worthington Goodman, 75, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be 1 PM, Friday, December 9, 2016, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Mrs. Goodman was born January 3, 1941, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late J.S. & Mary Pearl Bishop Worthington. She was a 1959 honor graduate of Irwin County High School where she was co-captain of the cheerleading squad. She was a paralegal for Emory Walters and Ben Mills for many years. In 2008, Mrs. Goodman joined the staff of The Paulk Funeral Home and helped serve families throughout Ben Hill and Irwin Counties for the past 8 years. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Marie Goodman Carter and her husband Alan of Fitzgerald; her son, James Lamar Goodman and his wife Carlotta of Fitzgerald; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe & Barbara Worthington of Fitzgerald; and a nephew, Jay Worthington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Glenn Goodman in 1968; and a nephew, Toby Worthington in 2014.
