Ilona Anna Berlin – Born October 28, 1945 - Died December 6, 2016
PORTLAND- Ilona Anna Berlin was born in Berlin, Germany where she grew up as the only child of Gerhard and Ingler Beyrodt. For Ilona life was always an adventure. She came to America for the first time in 1968 -- it was love at first sight and she traveled from Berlin and America many times during the following 20 years. In 1986 she moved with her children, Alexander and Patricia Kurth, to northern Maine where she bought a farm and experienced Maine at its best. Since 2002 she has lived in Portland.
Growing up in Berlin, the city life was in her blood, but the country remained in her heart. Her very special love always belonged to the animals, and many were her companions throughout her lifetime.
Ilona died on December 6th at her home in Portland, Maine.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Cathedral in Portland, Maine on January 10th, 2017 from 6pm-7pm.
