WAYLAND: John D. Crowley, 87, died peacefully at his residence on December 6, 2016 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Holyoke, MA on September 28, 1929 the son of the late James Crowley and Dorothy (Peterson) Crowley.
John was raised in Melrose, MA by his Aunt and Uncle, Frances and John Crowley. He attended Malden Catholic High School and then received his BS and Masters Degrees in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. He proudly served his country with the United States Army in Korea. John worked as a Civil Engineer for the Alonzo B. Reed Company of Boston, MA for more than 30 years.
John was a resident of Wayland for the past 57 years. Among his many interests, he enjoyed reading, backpacking, photography, astronomy, and building model airplanes. John was an active member of the Good Shepherd Parish in Wayland, MA.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann V. (Aikens) Crowley of Wayland. Also survived by his 5 children; Patrick Crowley of Framingham, MA; Richard Crowley and his wife Jennifer of Thetford, VT; Andrew Crowley and his wife Sharon of Ayer, MA; Rosemary Fedorchak of Ashland, MA and Matthew Crowley of Stoughton, MA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael Fedorchak, and Jensine, Kayla and Sheryl Crowley. He was the brother of the late Dorothy DeMato.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Crowley family lot in Saint Zepherin’s Parish Cemetery in Wayland.
