Obituary

Arthur William “Bill” Schoenbaechler, 89, passed away Tuesday December 6 at Park Terrace.

Bill was retired from L & N Railroad where he spent his entire working career. He was a founding member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church where he had many cherished friends as part of that parish family. He served the parish in many capacities and derived much joy from his service, especially as a life long member of the St. Polycarp Booster Club. Bill was beloved by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sweet demeanor and ready laugh will be sorely missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Harriet Schoenbaechler; his parents, Martin and Margaret Schoenbaechler, and brother Norman Schoenbaechler.

He leaves behind brother Carroll Schoenbaechler, sisters Edith Lyons and Ethel (Dub) Hartlage; daughters Phyllis (Steve) Cain, Paulette (Rick) Roberson, Pamela (David) Cain and son Scott (Tamara) Schoenbaechler; his grandchildren Pamela Cain, Alex Cain, Craig Roberson, Eric Roberson, Jillian Roberson, Jordan Cain, Brendan Cain, Tyler Schoenbaechler and Nick Schoenbaechler; great-grandchildren Braedon Smith, Bryce Smith, Jailynn Profumo, Laila Brooks, Eli Brooks, Lincoln Roberson, Myles Roberson, William Cain, Kora Cain, and Joslynn Schoenbaechler.

His funeral Mass will be 11 am on Friday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5431 Johnsontown Road. Burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 pm on Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Park Terrace for their loving and compassionate care as well as longtime caregivers Mary Eason Smith and Debbie Lemanski for their extraordinary care, friendship and the laughs they shared with Bill.
