Obituary

Thomas W. Settipani, of Saugus, retired sergeant of the Boston Police Department, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4th at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 68.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Charlestown and was the son of the late Dominic and Laura (Cataldo) Settipani. Thomas attended local schools and following his high school graduation, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during the Vietnam War and earned the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Marksman Badge Rifle M-14. Thomas later joined the Boston Police Department and achieved the rank of Sargent in the patrol division. He later worked at Headquarters and the Roxbury Courthouse. Following his many years of faithful service to the community, Thomas retired from the Boston Police Department in 2013. In his spare time, he enjoyed sports, especially baseball and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Thomas will be remembered as a dedicated, hardworking and caring man.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Vicki (Novello) Settipani, with whom he shared many years of loving marriage. He was the devoted father of Stacy Webster and her husband Frederick of Tyngsboro, Thomas J. Settipani of Saugus and the loving grandfather of Nicholas and Vincent. He was the dear brother of Joanne Pitts of Charlestown and the late Donald Settipani.

Relatives and friends are respectively invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Friday, December 9th from 11AM through 1PM. Services will conclude with military honors at 1PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Thomas’ name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First St., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02154 or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 33 Lyman Street, Westborough, MA 01581.
