Theresa J. “Terri” (Barbito) Fitzgerald, age 69, of Norton passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Bayonne, New Jersey on January 14, 1947, she was a loving daughter of the late George Barbito and Nellie (LaGreca) Sousa and her husband James Sousa.
Terri grew up and was educated in New Jersey. At the age of nineteen her family moved to Norton where she had made her home for the past fifty years.
Terri had previously worked as a customer service representative at the former Rubin Farms in Norton and also for the former Augat, Inc.in Attleboro.
She was a longtime active member of the Norton VFW Post 809 Ladies Auxiliary where she served on numerous committees and also served as a former president.
Terri loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and had a special love of collecting teddy bears.
She is survived by her devoted children Holli A. Fitzgerald and her fiancé Clint Patry of Norton and Thomas M. Fitzgerald, Jr. of Carver. She was the loving longtime companion of John Robarge of Norton. She was the dear sister of John Barbito of Florida, Camille Pirrello of New Jersey and the late Georgette Henry. She was the cherished grandmother of Kristen Morris, Jonathan Briggs, Kari Briggs, Erick Briggs and Joshua Fitzgerald, and is also survived by many adoring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will be held privately at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
