The funeral services for Mary GeorgieYoung Ward, 79, of Nahunta, Georgia will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Perry Funeral Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Mrs. Ward passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 after an extended illness.
The daughter of the late Newton Gresham Young and Willie Mae Wright Young, she was born in Ashburn, Ga. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and member of Beacon Baptist Church, Albany, Ga.
She is survived by two daughters, Faye Benfield and her friend, Thomas May, Waynesville, Ga.; Debbie (Stephen) Burtz, Doerun, Ga.; five sisters, Barbara Jones, Waycross, Ga.; Carol McDowell, Hortense, Ga.; Gail Warner, Hortense, Ga.; Wilma Bagley, Waynesville, Ga.; Joyce Stephens, Jesup, Ga.; two grandchildren, Rebecca (Derek) Wooten, Valdosta, Ga.; Stephanie (Jody) Barfield, Doerun, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Barfield, Doerun, Ga.; Isabella Barfield, Doerun, Ga.; her grandpets: Lil Bit, Sadie, Pugsley; and sister-in-laws, Janet Young, Evelyn Young, Syble Young and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Malcolm Ward; brothers, Horace Young, Henry Young, Arvin Young and Freddie Young and twin sister, Georgia May Young.
The family will receive friends Monday at 10:00 until the hour of service at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ashburn, Ga.
