Obituary

CHICOPEE – Elaine A. (LaCroix) Hamelin, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Renaissance Manor on Cabot in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on February 18, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Leo J. and Cecile P. (Boucher) LaCroix. She was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, attended Chicopee Schools and moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1959. She was a Real Estate Broker for 30 years and owned and operated Hamelin Real Estate in Chicopee. Elaine was an avid card player and enjoyed her many trips to Foxwoods. She was a member of the Real Estate Association and a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald J. “Hammy” Hamelin who was Called Home on May 14, 2002. They were married on May 30, 1952 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 49 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, David L. Hamelin and his wife, Tracy, of Belchertown, Lora A. Fillion and her husband, Roger, of Southampton and Lynn A. Clark of Belchertown; her four cherished grandchildren, Jessie Haffey and her husband, Eric, Abbie Moss, Tanner Clark and Samuel Clark; her two dear brothers, William LaCroix and his wife, Claire, and Gerald LaCroix and his wife, Cathy, all of Chicopee; her longtime companion, Donald Remillard of Chicopee; her special cousin, Lucille Manning of South Hadley; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Hamelin and LaCroix families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother-in-law, Arthur Hamelin. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2016 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Her burial will follow the Prayer Service at Precious Blood Cemetery, 65 Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
