Claire C. (Turgeon) Riendeau 84, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully Tuesday in The Ballou Home surrounded by her loving children. She was the wife of the late Roland O. Riendeau. Claire was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Leo and Irene Turgeon. She was an OB-GYN nurse for the Woonsocket Hospital for many years retiring in 1991. She was a Eucharistic Minister in St Anne’s Church and All Saints Church where she was a very involved parishioner serving on the parish council and chairing the Gabriel Project for many years. She was a friend and mentor to unwed mothers from 1988 to 2012 through the Gabriel Project. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons; Roland Riendeau of Woonsocket, Guy Riendeau of Lincoln, and Tod Riendeau of Woonsocket with whom she lived, a daughter Diane Belliveau of N. Smithfield, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, Leo A. Turgeon of Woonsocket, a sister, Suzanne Marquis of FL, and her five cats. She was also the sister of the late Normand Turgeon.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home 463 South Main St, Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery Cumberland. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Feed My Sheep, 323 Rathbun St, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
