Richard Timothy “Tim” Vaughn, Sr., 47, of Alapaha passed away Monday, November 28, 2016, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jimmie Hinson and the Rev. George Carrol Paulk officiating. Mr. Vaughn will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, December 2, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Chris Tillman, Michael Brooks, Jeremy Brooks, Rusty Bullard, Jacob Bullard, Cody Tillman, Donnie Wayne Mercer and Steve Mercer will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 25, 1969 in Moultrie, Mr. Vaughn was the son of Freddie Lee and Margie Vaughn of Cairo and Joyce and George Tucker of Moultrie. He had been employed with Shoney’s since he was 16, starting out in Thomasville, and was the general manager of the Shoney’s in Tifton, when it closed this year. He was baptized in 1989 at Barnet Creek Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Marie Rugg Vaughn of Alapaha, who he has been with since 1989 and married in 1996; one son, T. J. Vaughn and fiancé, Bree of Alapaha; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jordan Merritt of Ambrose; three step-children, Beth and Harold Harris, Nachole Simmons and fiancé, Ronnie Griner and Amanda Simmons Rugg; a sister, Lisa Ann Vaughn of Ochlocknee; a brother, Ricky Lee Vaughn of Moultrie; his grandchildren, Levi Merritt, Lexi Merritt and Keith Vaughn; his step-grandchildren, Anna Harris, Carrie Harris, Brian Harris, Alyssia Duran, Jason Dupree, Maih Rugg, Sophia Rugg and Brian Rugg; five step-sisters, Lynn and James Maddox of Thomasville, Kathy and Mike Brock of Coolidge, Pam and Steve Kelber of Valdosta, Teresa and Dennis Cook and Wanda and Rusty Cooper, all of Moultrie; and two step-brothers, Ed and Karen Tucker and Robert and Jan Tucker, all of Moultrie.
