TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Tonya Ann (McGilley) Lavalle, age 44, died unexpectedly, early Tuesday morning, November 29 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester from complications of diabetes. She was the beloved wife of James Arthur Lavalle, who preceded her in death this past June.
Tonya was born in Melrose, in December 1971, a daughter of John T. McGilley of Melrose and the late Joan E. (Bennett) McGilley, and was raised in Melrose, where she graduated from Melrose High School. Upon graduation she enlisted into the U.S. Navy, and served for four years active and four additional years in the U.S.N. Reserves. Her main enlistment career was submarine tender duties in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
After her marriage, she lived in Everett, and settled to Tewksbury in 2011.
She was remembered as a devoted Bingo fan at the Melrose V.F.W., and loved long motorcycle rides with her late husband.
Besides her father, she leaves a daughter, Courtney R. Lavalle of Tewksbury, a sister, Kim McGilley-Nuzzo of Salem, NH; a brother, Thomas J. McGilley and his spouse Jaime Lyn Brosseau of Saugus; and many nieces and nephews.
