Obituary

Wayland: Anthony L. “Tony” Alesi, 98, died peacefully and comfortably at his residence in Wayland on Friday, November 25, 2016 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 15, 1918 the son of the late Joseph Alesi and Vincenza (DiLeonardo) Alesi.
Tony was the beloved and devoted husband for 51 years of the late Mary Lucy (Russell) Alesi who died on March 25, 2005.
He is survived by his God-daughter Marifrances A. Cataldi of Stoughton, Wisconsin and his cousin Anthony LaSala and his wife Mary of Queens Village, New York.
He has resided in Wayland for over 61 years and previously lived in Washington, D.C. Tony graduated from Bushwick High School in Brooklyn, New York and received his BS and Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the City College of New York.
For several years he was associated with the Bureau of the Census in Washington, D.C.; the Naval Shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia; the Princeton University Labs; Watertown Arsenal; and with the Natick Labs where he retired from after many dedicated years as a Plastics Technologist.
Tony was an active communicant of Saint Ann’s Church in Wayland and served on the Parish Council and with the church choir as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was an accomplished artist and painted in oils as well as enjoying creative writing and he had written his own memoirs. He enjoyed taking care of his garden at his home and loved photography.
Visitations will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the church prior to his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 124 Cochituate Road (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Alesi family lot in North Cemetery in Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, and for those who desire, memorial gifts in Tony’s memory may be sent to Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498.
