Alfredo J. Rivas, 69, passed away on November 25, 2016 at St. Vincent Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in San Vicente, El Salvador on November 18, 1947 a son to the late Medardo Rivas and Hilaria (Barillas) Rivas.
In 1978 he married the love of his life, Maria E. (Reyes) Rivas, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. In 1980 they moved to the United States to raise their family. For 16 years, Alfredo was employed as a mechanic with the Worcester Regional Transit Authority.
He leaves behind his wife, Maria E. (Reyes) Rivas; his loving mother, Hilaria Rivas of Worcester; three children, Edwin, Miriam and Christian Rivas, all of Worcester; his brothers, Abelardo and Jose Rivas; three sisters, Carmen, Marina and Ana del Pilar and seven sisters who reside in El Salvador; thirteen grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 5:00pm until 7:45pm in the CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral service will begin at 8:00pm in the funeral home. At 9:00am on Saturday, December 3rd family and friends are invited to return to the funeral home where we will leave in procession to Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St., Worcester, where he will be laid to rest.
