Gordon Austin

Mansfield, MA

Gordon (Wasley) Austin, recently of Mansfield, a former resident of Norfolk for thirty-years, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of F. Reed Austin, Jr., to whom she was wed on June 18, 1983.

Born in New York City, New York on March 27, 1956, she was a loving daughter of Margaret (McCall) Wasley of Connecticut and the late John Wasley.

Gordon grew up in New York City. She was educated in New York and Connecticut and was a graduate of the Pomfret School in Connecticut. She furthered her studies by attending Boston University.

Mrs. Austin had been employed as an Advertising Director at Spiessl Vosick in Boston for several years and as a former Assistant Art Director at Grays Sporting Journal in Brookline.

When her family was growing up, she was a member of the Dover Church. Gordon was utterly devoted to her children. She was a wonderful artist and volunteered her skills at the Charles River School in Dover.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her devoted children Kiameche Eckman and her husband Robert of New York, Katharine Morrill and her husband Dexter of North Carolina, and F. Reed Austin, III and his fiancé Kasey Williams of Norwood. She was the dear sister of Ellen Atkins and her husband Robert of Concord, John Wasley and his wife Cathy of New York and Katherine Wasley of New York. She was the adoring grandmother of Charlotte Eckman, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A service in celebration of her life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, CT on Thursday, December 15th at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Genesis Foundation for Children.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
