Obituary

CHICOPEE – Florence Y. (Menard) Barthelette, 90, a former longtime resident of Arcade Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, November 26, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born on December 5, 1925 on Chicopee Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, a beloved daughter of the late Napoleon L. and Anna (Demers) Menard. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and had lived on Arcade Street for over 40 years. She moved to Largo, Florida in 1986 with her husband before returning to Chicopee in 1997. She was last employed as a Bookkeeper for their family business, Tony’s Radiator in Holyoke. She had previously worked at the former F.W. Sickles Company and the former Rest Home on Dallaire Avenue in Aldenville. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. An avid artist, she was a member of the Holyoke Art League. She also enjoyed playing the organ and was a member of the Chicopee Senior Center. Above all, she loved all of her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Albert W. Barthelette who was Called Home on December 31, 1997. They were married on April 27, 1946 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 51 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Alan G. Barthelette and his wife, Carol, of Easthampton and Mary A. Lent and her husband, Ronald “Jim” Lent, of Marstons Mills; her four cherished grandchildren, Tricia Edwards and her husband, Robert, Tracy Bertera and her husband, David, Erica Rosenberg and her husband, Bradley, and Ryan Schmidt and his wife, Viviana; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Sierra Edwards and Jaxson Rosenberg; her dear brother, Norman Menard and his wife, Theresa, of Ludlow; her dear brother-in-law, Alfred P. Dansereau of Chicopee; her two dear sisters-in-law, Ellen Blanchard of South Hadley and Evelyn “Dot” Barthelette of Westfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Barthelette and Menard families. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Roland Menard and Edmond “Joe” Menard; and her two dear sisters, Marian M. Dansereau and Jeannette Chagnon. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, December 1, 2016 beginning at 9 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
