San Antonio, Texas-Doris M. Marquis, 87, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of 156 Pine Street, Laconia, died Tuesday August 16, 2005 at the home of her daughter, Helen J. DeCantillon, with whom she had made her home for the past two years.
Doris was the daughter of the late William and Meleda (Lemay) Blais. She was born in Laconia on June 7, 1918 and had been a resident here for most of her life.
Doris was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia.
Doris attended Sacred Heart School. Prior to her retirement in 1983 she had been employed for 15 years at the former Vernitron Corporation in Laconia.
Doris was predeceased by her husband William P. Marquis in 1993.
Doris is survived by one daughter, Helen J. DeCantillon and her husband John of San Antonio, TX, one brother, Gerard Blais of Moultonboro, NH and Hilton Head, SC, two sisters, Rita Marchand of Laconia, and Cecile “Sue” Cameron of Bonita Springs, FL, and NH. Three granddaughters, Catherine Hoover and her husband Jay of Jackson, MS, Jennifer Allen and her husband Michael of San Antonio, TX, and Julie Culberson and her husband Jason of Brandon, MS. One great-granddaughter Sarah Hoover, and three great-grandsons, Christian and Nathan Allen, and James Hoover. Doris is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, August 20th, 2005 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia at 1:00 pm. Burial followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. A period of visitation preceded the mass from 11:00 am-12:30 pm at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia. Family and friends were invited to attend.
