…retired R.M.V. of Tewksbury; 78
TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Jean Elizabeth (McKenna) Brady, age 78, a well known resident of Tewksbury for the past 4 decades, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon at Lowell General Hospital’s Saints Campus.
Jean was born in Somerville in October 1938, a daughter of the late John and Rose (Gaudet) McKenna, and raised in Somerville where she Graduated from Somerville High School. During her earlier married years, she lived along Boston’s South Shore, and settled permanently in Tewksbury in 1974.
In addition to raising her family of five, she also worked as a Registry Clerk at the Registry of Motor Vehicles in their Lowell Office. For many years, she also waitressed for Catering By Terese based at the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Hall. Jean loved Bingo, and was well known in the greater Lowell Bingo circle. She was a member of the St. William’s Men’s Club, and worked the Friday night games at the church every Friday. She also loved trips to Foxwoods with her circle of friends. She also served as a lunch chef at St. William’s Rectory for more than a decade. She served her community as a town election polling place worker, most recently at the Senior Center precincts. Jean will be remembered for her warm smile and her ability to make new friends wherever she travelled.
She leaves her five children, Susan Beechin and her husband Robert of No. Chelmsford, Carole Paquette and her husband Kenneth of Pelham, NH, Maureen Brady-Lamoureux of Tewksbury, Christine Strickler and her husband Peter of Tewksbury, Robert D. Brady Jr., and his wife Jennifer (Devine) of Leominster; eleven grandchildren, Jessica and Rachel Beechin, Kenneth and Nicole Paquette, Brittany Lamoureux-Hawkins, Katelyn Lamoureux, Spc. Zachary Lamoureux, U.S. Army, James and Julia Strickler, Samantha and Natalie Brady; a great granddaughter, Cadence Hawkins; a brother and sister-in-law, John "Jack" and Joyce McKenna of Pinehurst, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Theresa McKenna of York, ME; her dearest friend, Mary Ellen Cooper of Tewksbury; her former husband and dear friends Robert and his wife Elizabeth Brady Sr. of West Newton; many nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and was predeceased by her siblings, R. Patrick McKenna, Mary and her husband George Dooley and Elizabeth McKenna.
Visting hours Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Thursday, Dec. 1, at 9:00 from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
