Ballard, Rita Mae (Schwarzer), 88, passed away November 24, 2016 at Essex Nursing Home in Louisville, with her family by her side, after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer’s.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jay” Ballard; and a brother, J.D. Schwarzer.
Rita Mae is survived by sons, Marty (Janet), Bruce (Sharon), and Kevin (Mary) Ballard; a daughter, Linda Denny (Jack); grandchildren, Dawn Watson (Christopher), Chris Ballard (Sandy), Stephanie Embrey (Kevin), Scott Ballard (Jamie), Craig Ballard, Jimmy Denny, Jaque Denny, and Jennifer Ballard; 10 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Dorothy Steinlage, and sister, Louise Mudd.
A Funeral Mass will be Friday at 11:00AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church 5433 Johnsontown Road with Fa. Bill Burks officiating. Entombment is in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation is Thursday 2:00-8:00 PM at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy., and also Friday after 9:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita’s name to WHAS Crusade for Children.
