Gordon Weade Clarke, 77 of Londonderry, NH died Thursday November 24, 2016 at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. Gordon was born in Boston, MA on December 3, 1938, a son of the late Harry E. and Glenna (Weade) Clarke. He had resided in Londonderry for the past 14 years, formerly living in Billerica, MA.
Gordon was employed as a carpenter foreman for Local Union #475 in Framingham, MA where he worked for 40 years. He was a member of the Londonderry Presbyterian Church where he sang with the choir. He was previously very active in the First Congregational Church in Billerica, MA where he was also a member of the choir, a trustee and served on many committees. Gordon enjoyed hiking, bicycling and watching sports.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna C. (Chisholm) Clarke of Londonderry, three sons, Gordon Weade Clarke, Jr. of Londonderry, Gregory W. Clarke and his wife Keri of Tyngsboro, MA, and Gary W. Clarke of Townsend, MA, two daughters, Gayle W. McNamara and her husband Daniel of Lowell, MA, and Ginger W. LeClair and her husband Paul of Scarborough, ME, eight grandchildren, Marin, Mark, Eric, Paige, Nicole, Jesse, Jake, and Logan, one brother, Rev. John Clarke of Meriden, CT, his daughter-in-law, Kathy Clarke of Townsend, MA., also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Danny Clarke and Dale LeClair.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday November 29, 2016 from 9 – 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services followed at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial followed in Pillsbury Cemetery, Londonderry. Memorial donations may be made to the Londonderry Presbyterian Church, 126 Pillsbury Rd., Londonderry, NH 03053.
