Obituary

Margaret D. Cronin (O’Keefe) age 93 of Quincy passed away surrounded by her loving family November 24th at the Dwyer Home in Weymouth. Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Girls High School, Northeastern University and Northeastern University Law School. She received her Juris Doctor in 1954 at a time when there were few female attorneys. She went on to make her mark at the State Land Court. She served as Chief Title Examiner for the State Land Court for twenty years. She was the first female to hold the position and was its longest standing. She served the court for 33 years until her retirement in 2002. During her tenure she worked with numerous attorneys and members of the public. She excelled in her profession, was a consummate professional and was respected by everyone whose path she crossed. She left a mark on the land court that will not be forgotten. Margaret was devoted to her family. The early years of her marriage she lived in Milton before moving to Wollaston in 1954. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Margaret will be missed by all that were blessed to have known her. Margaret’s family is grateful to the staff at the William Rice Eventide Home for the kindness and care they gave to Margaret during her final days. Beloved wife of the late Albert E. Mother of Albert E. Cronin of Norton, Mary Ellen Cunniff and her husband Bill of Quincy and the late Margaret M. Cronin. Sister of Mary Lovett of Dorchester, Theresa Carmichael of Arlington and the late Helen McCarthy. Grandmother of Lucas & Alexandria Cronin and Will Cunniff. Great grandmother of Mason Cronin. Funeral mass at St. Agatha Church Milton Monday morning at 9:00. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Sunday 2-6 pm. Burial Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to either Interfaith Social Services, 105 Adams St. Quincy, MA 02169 or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
