HARGREAVES, Dorothea F. (McNally) A long-time resident of Dedham, passed away on Monday, November 21. She was the beloved wife of the late George W. Hargreaves for 55 years.
Born in 1928, Dorothea was a life-long member of the Salvation Army Church. Her father, Charles was a pastor in the Salvation Army along with her brothers, Charlie and Robert. The Salvation Army was Dottie’s passion and delight. Her love was to sing and towards this, was the leader of the Choir at the Boston Central Corps for over 30 years. Her musical gifts included playing the piano and euphonium as a member of The Salvation Army Band.
She was a devoted and caring grandmother to her 7 grandchildren: Sean, Ashley, Alyson, Jordan, Rachel, Emily, and Maxwell. She was also fortunate to have 6 great grand-children in her life as well.
Dorothea is survived by her son W. Kip Hargreaves, her daughter Pamela Denyse and her husband David, and her son Richard Hargreaves and his wife Anne Gorczyca.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Monday, Nov. 28 from 4-7pm. Funeral Service in the Allin Congregational Church, Dedham, Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham
