Obituary

Paul V. Murray, 77, of Fairhaven, died August 15, 2005, at Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. He was the husband of Barbara S. (Greenwood) Murray.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph P. and Mary (Lancaster) Murray, he had lived in Fairhaven since 1959. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and Southeastern Massachusetts Textile Institute.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven where he was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society.

Mr. Murray was formerly employed as a mechanical engineer with Haemonetics Company in Braintree for 19 years until his retirement in 1993. He previously worked at Sippican Inc. in Marion, Raytheon in Dighton and Electric Boat in Groton, CT.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a recipient of the World War II Victory medal.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Timothy J. Murray, and his wife Anne Marie, of Attleboro, and John S. Murray, and his wife Danielle, of Fairhaven; five daughters, Susan M. Murray, and her partner Karen Hibbard, of Ferrisburgh, VT, Christine M. Blake, and her husband Christopher, and Carolyn M. Murray, all of Taunton, Cynthia M. Anderson, and her husband Kenneth, of Attleboro, and Paula M. Burke, and husband Jerry, of Nashua, NH; 2 brothers, Hugh Murray of New Bedford and Raymond Murray of Norwich, Conn.; a sister, Mary Broadwater of Mattapoisett; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late John S. Murray and William Murray.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Thursday, August 18, 2005, at 7:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Mattapoisett. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society at St. Joseph's Parish, 41 Walnut St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
