CHICOPEE – Rollande C. (Tetreault) Kowal, of the Sandy Hill section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, November 21, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born on April 12, 1930 in Saint Edwidge, Province of Quebec, Canada, a beloved daughter of the late Antonio and Fabiola (Lamoureux) Tetreault. She moved with her family from Beecher Falls, Vermont to the North End section of Springfield as a child, attended Cathedral High School in Springfield and moved to Chicopee in 1950. She was employed as a manicurist at Sincerely Yours Salon and later at Whispers Salon and Mon Ami Hair Design, all in Longmeadow. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. During the past few years, Rollande was known as a fighter with her illness. An avid reader and gardener, her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Her family would like to thank the staff at Wingate at South Hadley for the wonderful care they provided to Rollande. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred R. Kowal who was Called Home on January 3, 1997. They were married on June 10, 1950 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 46 of marriage. She leaves her two loving children, Richard A. Kowal and his wife, Angela, of Belchertown and Lorie A. Kowal and her partner, Pearl M. Litke, of Chicopee; her two cherished granddaughters, Amanda K. Kowal and Melissa M. Kowal; her three dear sisters, Helen Marchetti of Westfield, Mary Jane Helmsworth and her husband, Edward, of South Hadley and Pauline Robbins and her husband, Robert, of San Diego, CA; her dear sister-in-law, Yvette Kowal of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Kowal and Tetreault families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear sister, Lorraine G. Thibeault who was Called Home on June 25, 2003. Her family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday morning, November 25, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Prayer Service at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
