WORCESTER-Betty Jo Hogan, 60, of Worcester passed away Monday, November 21 in UMASS Medical Center.
She leaves her mother, Nancy E. (Simmons) Hogan of Worcester; five siblings, William L. Hogan, Jr. of Barre, Bruce E. Hogan of Kansas City, MO, Nancy D. Mayou and her husband, James of Mashpee, Rebecca A. Sullivan and her husband, Robert of Worcester and Shirley A. Berkiel and her husband, Francis of Worcester. She also leaves all her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, who all thought of her as their second mom. Her sister, Donna Knight predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late William L. Hogan, Sr. and graduated from Burncoat High School.
Betty Jo worked at the College of the Holy Cross and prior to that worked for the Allegro Microsystems. Her true occupation in life was being a surrogate mother to her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Betty was active in the choir at the Church of the Nazarene. She also loved to cook for everyone in the family and play the piano.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 25 at 3PM in the Church of the Nazarene, 146 Burncoat St. Burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of CALLAHAN~FAY~CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome at www.cureangelman.org, an organization very dear to her heart for her nephew Jalen.
