Obituary

Jerry Culpepper, 68, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, November 21, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Mystic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Culpepper was born November 22, 1947, in Ocilla, Georgia to Susie King Culpepper and the late Oris T. Culpepper. He was an Irwin County High School graduate and graduated trade school in Americus studying diesel mechanics. Mr. Culpepper served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Ross of Georgia as well as Everett Dykes Grassing Company doing road construction. Mr. Culpepper was owner/operator of Culpepper Paving Company. He loved to hunt and fish as well as ride his golf cart. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a member of Mystic Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Terry Wright Culpepper of Ocilla; three children and their spouses: Heather & Pete Skaggs, Bridgette & Clay Harper, and Chad & Heather Culpepper, all of Irwin County; eight grandchildren: Cam Morgan, Luke Morgan, Lizzie Morgan, Jack Culpepper, Clayton Harper, Caroline Harper, Lainee Skaggs, and Henli Culpepper; his mother, Susie King Culpepper of Fitzgerald; three sisters: Bobbie Tompkins of Waynesboro, Jill & Billy York of Irwinville, and Marie Sikes of Fitzgerald; and a brother, Dwight Culpepper of Mystic. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
