JONES - Ronald Barry "R.B." Jones, 70, of Fernandina Beach passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach.
He was born October 30, 1946 in Gastonia, NC and moved to Fernandina Beach 25 years ago from Orange Park, FL.
Memberships include the Journey Church; Fernandina Beach Masonic Lodge, Orange Park Masonic Lodge; Shriners and Scottish Rite.
Mr. Jones served 25 years with the United States Navy retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran serving three tours of duty in Vietnam with the Navy's brown water forces. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Battle "E" with Wreath of Excellence, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3 awards), Navy UnityCommendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 awards), Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation with Operational "O" Device, Vietnam Service Medal (4 awards), and The Republic of Vietnam Combat Action Ribbon.
Mr. Jones was also a certified rehabilitation counselor with the U. S. Navy and organized and raised funds for orphanages all over the world.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Darrin Garcia and two brothers, Samuel Jones and Donald Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Terry Jones; two sons, Andrew Barry Jones, II and Adam David Salzburg; two daughters, Darbie J. Garcia (Audie L. McKenzie) and Anika Helene Salzburg; a brother, Stan Jones; one sister, Elaine Jones; six grandchildren, Jessica Robertson (Chris), Erica Bagnasco (Joey), Jonah Salzburg, and Noah, Kaleb and Kaley Conekin; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Levi Bagnasco; and a daughter in law, Monica Garcia.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, November 29, at the Journey Church. Interment with full military honors will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Christian Men's Association of Northeast Florida.
