John F. "Jack" Young Jr. formerly of Woburn, MA and Derry, NH, and also affectionately known as "Yacka" to his friends and family, died suddenly on November 17, 2016. Born on February 3, 1958, and raised in Woburn Jack was the youngest of four of the late Prudence (Varney) and John Young and Jaqueline Young. He graduated from the Wakefield vocational school in 1976 where he studied plumbing and excelled as an athlete on the hockey team.
Jack followed the career path of his father John Sr. and worked many years at the Water Department for the city of Woburn. He retired in 1998 and moved to Derry, NH where he enjoyed his house and family.
Jack will be remembered for his love of Hampton Beach. He spent many summers there as a kid, and later as a father. Jack made many memories at his family’s house on the beach which he often talked about. Jack will also be remembered for being the funny guy in the room. He loved to talk to everyone and always had others laughing. He enjoyed good company and his vibrant personality and laugh will be deeply missed.
Jack is survived by his four children John "Jack" Young of Wilmington, Ashley Young and her fiancé Kyle Burvill of Ayer, Mathew and Tracy Young of Tewksbury and Tyler Young of Manchester, N.H. Jack was also blessed with a granddaughter Soairse Young of New York and was expecting his second grandchild, Marlowe Young in February 2017, due on his birthday. Jack deeply cherished all of his children and took pride in being their father. In addition, Jack is survived by his three sisters Robin and Dave McDonald of Woburn, Cheryl and Michael Marciano of Woburn and Sandy Antonelli of Hudson as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved. They will all remember him with their funny memories of family get-togethers, laughs, big hugs and larger than life personality.
A memorial service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Wednesday, November 23rd, at 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 2 through 5 p.m. Interment services will be private.
