CHICOPEE – Juliette L. “Julie” (Lemieux) Lafleur, 83, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, November 18, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Chicopee Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee on May 3, 1933, the beloved daughter of the late Romeo Lemieux and Leonie (Dulong) Lemieux Hebert. She attended Holyoke schools and moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee in 1960. She was employed for several years in the cafeteria at the Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School in Aldenville and later managed the child care center at the former Empire One Racquetball Club in Willimansett. She was last employed as a financial assistant at the Riverbend Medical Center regional office in Agawam for fifteen years where she retired in 2005. She was a longtime communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. Julie was also an active member and shareholder of the Western Mass. Yacht Club, a member of the Franco American Women’s Association and a member of the Red Hatters Club. She adored her loving family and all the special people in her life. She showered her family and friends with her love and affection. Julie will always be remembered for the laughter she brought to so many through her humorous jokes. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and she will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. Her family would most especially like to thank all of those who offered support and compassion over the past few years, most notably her caregivers at Wingate at South Hadley where Julie was known as the “Queen at Wingate”. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Roland J. “Rolie” Lafleur who was Called Home on January 9, 1999. They were married at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke on May 30, 1953 and were blessed with nearly 46 years of happiness together. She leaves her two devoted children, Vivian Berneche and her husband, Lloyd, of Granby and Robert Lafleur and his wife, Laurel “Laurie”, of Belchertown; her five cherished grandchildren, Shaina Berneche and her fiancé, James Garvin, Neal Berneche and his companion, Rileigh Damon, Adam Lafleur and his wife, Jennifer, Andrew Lafleur and his wife, Angie, and Lizanne McCabe and her husband, Kevin; her cherished great-granddaughter, Tessa Grace Lafleur; her dear sister-in-law, Lucille Brosseau of Agawam; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends, and extended members of the Lafleur, Lemieux, Dulong and Hebert families. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:00 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
