Obituary

Donald P. Gagne, 93, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully Friday, November 18, 2016, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, MA on October 20, 1923, a son of the late Lorenzo and Hilda (Pinkham) Gagne, and had been a resident of East Derry since 1934, formerly living in Malden, MA. Donald was educated in Derry and graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1941.
He proudly served his country in the U.S Navy during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Navy in 1971 after 30 years of service. Donald had been employed for 17 years by Edgecomb Steel in Nashua, NH, working in inventory control. Don’s passion was skiing, he had skied every major resort worldwide. He has traveled all over Europe, North America & South America and was able to attain his goal to ski when he turned 90. He enjoyed time with the “Over the Hill Gang” and traveled and participated in activities with a wide group of friends.
He is survived by three nephews and their wives, Patrick & Joyce Sullivan of Manchester, NH, Michael & Mary Sullivan of Goffstown, NH, and Mark & Jamie Sullivan of Stratham, NH, as well as several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mabel (Festavan) Gagne and his brother John Sullivan.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held with Military Honors Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 9:30 am in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road in Londonderry, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pinkerton Alumni Association, Alumni Center, 5 Pinkerton Street, Derry, NH 03038.
