Blair (Gracie) Woodman, 87 of North Andover passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Lawrence General Hospital. Blair was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on March 28, 1929, the daughter of Walter B. and Margaret A. (Martinson) Gracie.
Blair graduated from Hibbing High School. She attended the University of Minnesota and the University of Massachusetts/Amherst for her doctoral studies. She worked as a teacher and a school psychologist at the Greater Lawrence Technical High School in Lawrence for over 20 years until her retirement.
Blair had many intellectual and creative interests and participated in several writing groups and camera clubs. She was especially pleased to serve as a member of the North Andover Poet Laureate Committee. She was an avid reader and shared this love, and memberships in multiple libraries, with her children. Over the years she attended and supported numerous Unitarian Universalist churches and served them in various capacities. Her circle of friends was vast, and she shared her talents and wit with all.
Blair was predeceased by her brother, John D. Gracie in 2010. She will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Marilyn Woodman and her husband, Raphael Hartzog of Florence, MA, Linda Montag and her husband, Avram of Haifa, Israel, and Douglas Woodman and his wife, Kathleen of Methuen. She was enormously proud of her 7 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters who will miss her too.
A celebration of Blair’s life will be held later at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 125 S. Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
