Clinton Franklin Downs, Sr., 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, November 18, 2016, at Arbor Baptist Church, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, in Ashburn, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary at the church.
Mr. Downs was born July 15, 1939, in Doles, Georgia, to the late Warren Leonard & Clara Mae Rickerson Downs. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Mr. Downs worked for Delco Remy and was a union representative for many years. Mr. Downs was a member of Arbor Baptist Church and loved the men’s group at church, his family and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Freida Cyr Downs of Fitzgerald; children: Linda D. Metcalf & Dennie of Tifton, Clinton Franklin Downs, Jr. & Twyla of Thomasville, Ginger D. Freeman & Chris of Ocilla, Warren L. Downs & Gina of West Chester, Ohio, Kevin Downs of Ashburn, Torrie Watson & Raymond of Fitzgerald and Marie Downs of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Frances Downs of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Downs and two sisters: Shirley D. Whittle and Delores D. Little.
