Obituary

Annie Doherty of Charlestown, formerly of Dumbarton, Scotland, entered into eternal life at her home in Charlestown on November 15, 2016. She was 99 years young.

Annie was born in Scotland, and emigrated to the U.S. in the 1950s with her late husband Patrick Doherty, to whom she was married for 64 years.

Annie is the loving mother of Barbara Naughton and husband Patrick of Quincy, Grace Eirkson and husband John of Hershey, PA and Anne Doherty Johnson and husband Gary Johnson of Charlestown, and the loving aunt of Barbara Walsh of Arlington. Eight wonderful grandchildren called her Nana: Patrick, James and Sean Naughton, Anne Marie (Naughton) McNamara, Jonathan, Jason, James and Joseph Eirkson. She is also Great Nana to 16 beautiful great grandchildren, whose activities and accomplishments brought her much joy. Annie also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in her beloved Scotland.

Annie had a strong faith, and prayed for all her family every day. Annie enjoyed trips back to her beloved Scotland and walks exploring Boston with her husband and family. In recent years, nicknamed “the Annie Grannie” by Gary, she savored her short neighborhood strolls and the chance to be outdoors, greeting passersby.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Annie's Funeral on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury. Her visiting hours will be on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 3 to 6 P.M. in the funeral home
