Sara Schnellenberger Demling, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.
Sara was born in St. Meinrad, IN in 1935 to the late Leslie and Rosena Schnellenberger, the second of four children.
The family moved to Louisville in her early childhood and Sara spent most of her adult life living here. A former employee of the old Eastern Airlines, Piedmont, and US Airways, Sara had many adventures before choosing to devote herself to raising her beloved children. A loyal UofL Cardinal fan, she spent many hours cheering them on either at the games or on TV. Sara was a 50 year member of St. Edward Church in Jeffersontown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Jeffrey, and baby brother, David.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Cornelius “Buddy”; her daughter, Jennifer Cebe (Jason); wonderful grandson, Jeffrey Benjamin Cebe; brothers, Howard (Beverlee) and Larry Schnellenberger.
Sara defined what it is to be a nurturing mother, a devoted wife, a friend, and a doting grandmother. She was a class act. She is forever in our hearts.
Cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Sara’s life will be 3pm to 7pm Monday at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, with the memorial service to follow visitation at 7pm. Private interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
